My 7 Go-To Makeup Staples at the Moment

Let’s be honest, while I dabble in all sorts of makeup, there are definitely a few products that I always come back to: some I just tried last month, and some I’ve been coming back to for years.

Rather than a Monthly Favorites blog post, I thought it would be fun to write about my favorite makeup staples of all time. Buuuuut, I’m fully aware that this list may change in the future.

So without further ado, here are my top 7 makep staples at least for the time being!

1.) Nyx Vinyl Liquid Eyeliner

I was around 17 and just beginning to experiment with makeup when the winged eyeliner look got really big, and I perfected my technique to the point that it was my trademark at school. While I list this as one of my favorite staples at the moment, it may very well qualify as one of my favorite beauty staples of all time.

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner? We don’t know her.

·     MAC Velvet Touch Lipstick

As someone who tries to keep it frequent on the cruelty-free purchases, I was actually pretty late to the MAC brand. Is MAC lipstick even cool anymore? All I know is that the lipstick is definitely what it’s cracked up to be; it’s smooth and matte without being too drying, and the formula is so creamy,it’s the most satisfying thing to apply.

·     Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit

The past couple months, I’ve kinda been a bit of a whore for Anastasia products. The colors are always so pretty and easy to blend! I also tend to have a harder time finding contour shades that work with my complexion; often times, bronzer is too cool for my undertone and it looks gray and dirty on me. But the peachy tones warm my face up just right. I also recommend this one for beginners, since, like I said, it’s so easy to blend.

·     Glossier Stretch Concealer

I have REALLY delicate under-eye skin, which means that concealer creases easily, making me look wrinkled. Stretch concealer, though, is pigmented enough that I don’t need too much, but it’s also buildable and melts easily.

2.)  Urban Decay All-Nighter Long-Lasting Setting Spray

I honestly don’t know how I’ve gone this far without setting spray with skin as oily as mine. The Urban Decay setting spray is mattifying and truly lasts hours.

3.) NYX Total Control Drop Foundation

NYX is absolutely one of my ride-or-die drugstore brands, but this is my favorite foundation that they’ve released. While my skin is a bit uneven, I generally don’t get any blemishes or hyperpigmentation (I know, I suck). Sometimes I don’t even use foundation, and even when I do, I might not want a whole lot. That being said, I love that this is truly a buildable formula that doesn’t look cakey.

4.) Glossier Boy Brow

I really don’t understand why short spoolies aren’t a thing for every brow pomade; most make them the same shape of a typical mascara wand. Boy Brow is my favorite eyebrow product. That being said, I get that some ladies are more partial to a powder or a pencil. I also feel like my brows are very much still a work in progress.

Do you guys have any recommendations? Have you tried Glossier’s Brow Flick? Please give a sister a hand and leave your suggestions in the comments!

5.) Benefit Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara

While I wear mascara just like anyone else, I honestly can’t tell the difference between different brands a lot of the time. But this mascara is truly worth the hype. The first time I put this on, I heard a voice in my head say “and they say her lashes grew three sizes that day.”

6.) Wet N Wild Megaglo Hello Halo Liquid Highlighter

Liquid highlighter is an absolute must for me, but this highlighter makes me feel like a glowing goddess. I’ve loved seeing the progress Wet N Wild has made in the past year, from Unicorn Glow to Midnight Mermaid—truly a magical brand at mythicalprices. While those are fantastic as collections, I really favor this as an individual gem. As an added bonus, they’re cruelty-free and vegan!

7.) Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette

I know, I know, I was hella lateto this ABSOLUTE TREASURE of a product; it was one of those palettes that I knew I would like but never got around to buying it.

Now that it’s in my beauty cabinet, I can tell you that I don’t like it, I love it.

The shades blend like no eyeshadow I’ve used before and I’m so smitten by each and every one of the shades that I try to incorporate a different combination every day. I especially love that they figured out a way to make a palette that uses a lot of nudes, but can also be used to create a more dramatic look. Am I having a day where I’m productive and doing laundry but I wanna do it like a queen? Golden ochre on the lids, raw sienna in the crease and primavera in the corners. I’m setting my ex on fire? Buon fresco on the lids, transition with Venetian red, Cyprus umber in the crease and Vermeer on the inner corners.
